Name: Alexa Woczinski

Hometown: Jena, Home of choice: Köln

Birth date: 23.03.1997

Job: UX Designerin and Product Managerin at “Rausgegangen”

Hobbies: Travel & Trip Planning, Photography & Image Editing, Yoga & Dancing

What makes travelling your great passion?
My very personal “meaning of life” is to see, try out and discover as much as possible. And travelling enables me to understand the world better, to become more tolerant and empathetic, to get to know and develop myself, to meet people who tick like me or show me completely different perspectives and to see places where people say “How beautiful is our world, please! Travelling makes me more open, appreciative, grateful and happy – and that’s why I love travelling.

Why are you best suited for the JDL?
Because the JDL combines my greatest passion with my vision: to inspire other people to travel. To make people want to see our world and experience everything that travel has to offer. I’m not too shy about anything, I can get excited about anything and pass on the enthusiasm. And if something goes wrong, we just laugh about it together. I just have the feeling that I can infect the holiday guru community with my energy and we have a lot of fun while exploring the world together.

Who did you tell first that you were in the top 3?
How did you celebrate? I called my boyfriend first and then went to our house. There was soo much partying going on in my head, I was jumping wildly around the flat, dancing and singing and shrieking. Then we just went and got Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and started spinning around together about what it would be like if I really got the job.

What is your favourite travel destination?
Where I’ve been: Peru! It feels like you’re never done exploring: the Andes, endless beaches, deserts, snow-covered mountains, cultural cities like Cusco and Arequipa and simply everything that the Inca culture has produced. And my favourite destination where I haven’t been yet: is Hawaii. I’ve also never seen a volcano in fire-breathing activity and would so love to visit Kilauea on the Big Island.

What are your must-haves for the trip?
My camera, because I can best capture the beauty of a place or moment in photos. My diary, where I write every day and also ask my travel acquaintances if they want to write a few lines in my diary. And because #coffeelover: I always have a hand filter or a fabric strainer with me to make coffee wherever I go.

What was the most exciting or emotional travel experience you ever had?
We wanted to do a hike with some friends to the Piedra da Gavea, from where you have a breathtaking view of Rio de Janeiro. The trail was extremely demanding and many people who didn’t have a guide with climbing equipment failed on the 20m high climbing wall. We didn’t know that beforehand and stood in front of the stone wall after 4 hours of strenuous hiking. It went down so steeply, one slip and I don’t know what would have happened. I was scared to death, I even cried in between, and I went back down, but I really wanted to get to the top and do it. After 30 minutes of thinking back and forth, my friend and I said “Let’s try it again”. With teamwork and courage, we made it to the top and lay in each other’s arms, relieved and proud. The view at the top was all the more precious. (I didn’t know then that the way back would be even worse because it was dark, but that’s another story).

What was your application idea?
Compared to the others, my application was probably relatively unexciting: in my 5-minute video, I mainly talked about myself as a person, and what I have already experienced professionally, showed my previous travel account and explained why I have everything you need for the JDL. I wanted to keep it simple and authentic; luckily, the jury was convinced.

Name: Eyleen Goldschmidt

Hometown: Ürzig

Birth date: 13.09.2000

Job: Budding media designerin

Hobbies: Cooking, yoga, horse riding, hiking and all sorts of creative stuff

What makes travelling your great passion?
He who travels grows. This world is far too wondrous to just look at the same spot all the time. After every trip, no matter how small, I come home with countless new impressions, insights and inspirations. That’s what makes it all so special for me.

Why are you best suited for the JDL?
My former teacher once told me that I had a gift, hahaha. And even if I find this formulation a bit exaggerated, it could be an approach to why I have always remained true to creating photos & films. I love to convey emotions and thus inspire people. A trip around the world has been my dream for as long as I can remember. To be able to share such a journey with people would be the greatest thing for me. I want to knock everyone’s socks off with my content!

Who did you tell first that you were in the top 3? How did you celebrate?
I wanted to tell my best friend Jonas – but he didn’t answer the phone, haha. So my mum had to help out. Since I’m in the middle of studying for my final exams, I couldn’t celebrate.
What is your favourite travel destinati
on?
Phew, there is still so much I want to see of the world. But if I had to choose, there would definitely be many African countries: Tanzania, Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco…

What are your must-haves for the trip?
My camera, a drone and for sure some cool, practical gadgets from Fidlock 😉 Oh, and lip balm – I have an addiction.

What was the most exciting or emotional travel experience you ever had?
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see much of our world yet. But one experience I will never forget was a 4-week road trip through Germany in a super cool, converted bus. This trip was very special and allowed me to get to know my home country all over again.

 What was your application idea?
I knew straight away that my application had to be a video. It should briefly present me, what I stand for and my dream. Quick fun fact: I became aware of the job of a lifetime much too late, which is why I finished the idea, production, editing and everything else that went into the application within two days. Four hours before the deadline, I sent everything off, just in time.

Name: Nele Rose

Heimatort: Hodenhagen (Landkreis Heidekreis)

Geburtsdatum: 25.08.1997

Beruf: Selbstständig (Social Media & Content Creation Freelancerin)

Hobbies: Zeit mit Familie und Freunden, Wandern und laufen gehen, Abenteuer erleben, Motorrad fahren

What makes travelling your great passion?
I am Nele, 25 years old and come from the Heidekreis in Lower Saxony! Out there in the world, there are simply numerous things that I have not yet discovered in my home country. When I travel, I have a permanent grin on my face. I love discovering new cultures, getting inspired and meeting people from all over the world. I also find it totally exciting to try new things and get out of my comfort zone. For me, travelling also means clearing my head and taking a deep breath. Collecting memories and being on the road with loved ones. I always look forward to coming home with new experiences in my luggage and inspiring you for new adventures.

Why are you best suited for the JDL?
The job of a lifetime combines exactly what I am passionate about – creating content, experiencing exciting places and cultures and sharing experiences. It’s especially important to me to involve you in this journey through different formats, challenges and polls. Ever since I was a little kid, I took every opportunity to document my everyday life with a video camera. On my first travels, I then realised that I didn’t just want to keep my experiences to myself and started capturing the moments in travel videos and sharing them with you (@heyiamnele). Through studies & internships in the field of “media and communication” and my self-employment as a social media & content creation freelancer, it’s totally fun for me to further develop my media skills so that I can share my experiences with you even better. It would be a dream come true for me to make my passion for travelling and content creation my job together with Urlaubsguru and take you around the world with me.

Who did you tell first that you were in the top 3? How did you celebrate?
After I got the call from Fabius that I was in the Top 3 Casting, I called a very good friend – Kimi – very excited and full of joy. She had also accompanied me to the Top 10 Casting (thanks again!) and was totally happy for me. That same evening, I invited a few friends over to my place and we had a relaxed toast to this great event.

What is your favourite travel destination?
For me, there is no such thing as a “favourite destination”, as every country is unique in its own way. The places, accommodations and activities, as well as the people I meet or travel with, make the trip and the country special for me. However, if I had to choose one “favourite” destination I have been to so far, it would be Costa Rica. I really liked the country in Central America because of the nature and animals and it inspired me. In the future, it would be a dream to discover a lot more – I’m particularly excited about Tanzania, Patagonia and Hawaii, but northern Europe is also still on my bucket list.

What are your must-haves for the trip?
I have realised that the right equipment is very important in recent years. It makes many situations easier and you look forward to using it. Depending on the destination, I have different must-haves, but pack bags are very practical to start organising before the trip. I also always have a water bottle with me (just fill it up behind security). On many trips, microfibre towels, a power bank and binoculars are a must. And then there’s my technical equipment – smartphone, camera, drone & co – in my luggage, which I use to capture my experiences in photos and videos. I always make sure that it is well protected during transport and use.

What was the most exciting or emotional travel experience you ever had?
One of my most exciting travel experiences was a volcano hike up the Acatenango volcano in Guatemala. It was the longest and most physically challenging hike I had ever done up to that point. We set up camp on Acatenango for the night at sunset and were able to watch the eruption of the Fuego volcano opposite over and over again. It was awesome to see the lava and felt like cinema – only in real life! At night, we made a campfire under the stars at the Fuego volcano during an additional hike. I can 100% recommend this adventure in Guatemala!

What was your application idea?
A friend sent me a voice memo on my birthday with an unusual message: “Unfortunately I don’t have a real birthday present for you, but – as luck would have it – I found something today. I’ll forward you the link for the “job of a lifetime” & hope you apply for it because it would suit you so well!” From that point on, I knew I wanted to include that voice message in the application. I then created a creative cover letter with photos and shot an application video. At the time of filming, I was out on the Missouri River in America and filmed the first part of my video paddling in the pouring rain. That was fun! In the end, the video consisted of a colourful mix of videos, photos, drone and 360-degree shots. At the Top 10 Casting, I presented my ideas for the “job of a lifetime” to the jury and showed them how we can create an exciting journey in which we let the community become part of it in the best possible way with challenges, votes and authentic impressions.

Thanks to @roamingalexa @eyleen @heyiamnele for the introduction! Until Thursday, 17.11.2022 you have the chance to vote for your favourite here: Der Job deines Lebens | Urlaubsguru.
