The VACUUM Ahead Cap Base is a smartphone mount designed for the bicycle stem cap. It consists of a special Ahead cap that is screwed onto the head tube. The base is then slipped onto the cap and secured with a clamp, either using the knurled screw or, for added theft protection, the hex screw. When a smartphone isn’t needed, the base can be quickly removed, while the plain cap remains screwed onto the bike.
The magnetic counterpart attaches to the smartphone. The set includes the universal VACUUM uni phone patch for this purpose. It transforms conventional smartphone cases into FIDLOCK VACUUM cases. The VACUUM geometry is attached to the case using a 3M adhesive dot. A cleaning cloth and a fixing clip are included in the package. A smooth surface is essential for the suction cup to adhere securely.
Here’s how it works: The smartphone can be easily attached to the mount using the connector and is held securely in place. The magnetic force centers the smartphone on the mount, preventing it from slipping and ensuring a strong vacuum grip. If forces exceed the magnetic attraction, the suction cup provides additional support through negative pressure. To release the smartphone, simply operate a lever on the side of the mount. Thanks to this combination of magnetic force and vacuum suction, the smartphone can be operated with one hand. It rotates 360°, while a ball lock prevents it from twisting while riding.
Important Notes:
- The mount fits a 1 1/8-inch steerer tube (Ahead headset).
- The mount is not suitable for textured surfaces or silicone or leather cases.
