University meets innovation: FIDLOCK in action
As part of a university project in collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Technology Sydney as well as the Thammasat Design School, student teams developed creative product concepts based on FIDLOCK technology. Their goal was to address real-world challenges across a range of self-selected fields using innovative magnetic-mechanical fastening solutions. The resulting prototypes impressively demonstrate the versatility and potential of FIDLOCK technology.

The challenge:
Roof rack systems are indispensable for many outdoor enthusiasts - but are often difficult to install, unwieldy and not intuitive.
Especially in countries such as China, Thailand and Australia, the demand for user-friendly solutions has risen sharply.
The solution: Magnetic. Secure. Flexible.
The modular roof rack system utilises the magnetic SNAP retractable technology and the V-BUCKLE.
This allows bikes, surfboards, skis or luggage carriers to be attached quickly and securely - without any screws.

- Base element on the roof rack is permanently installed.
- Mobile counterpart on the luggage engages automatically due to magnetic attraction.
- Additional securing with V-BUCKLE - all it takes is a flick of the wrist.

Development process & learnings:
From initial sketches and 3D prototypes to the finalised solution: the biggest challenge was to combine ease of use and stability. Thanks to the intelligent interaction of the FIDLOCK components, it was possible to achieve precisely this balance.

Development team: WAIT A MOMENT
The project was developed by the interdisciplinary team WAIT A MOMENT. Behind it are five dedicated students with different cultural and professional backgrounds: Yilok Ho (Yves), Ziling Yu (Chilin), Yimin Chen (Joelle), Sam Hensel and Kalyakorn Pisalchaiyong (Beaut).
Together, they pursued innovative approaches to use our FIDLOCK technology to create a user-friendly and secure roof rack system for outdoor use. Their creative collaboration is reflected in the well-thought-out design and practical functionality of the prototype.
This video shows a university project prototype. It does not represent a final product. There were no collaborations with any brands other than FIDLOCK.
