University meets innovation: FIDLOCK in action
As part of a university project in collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Technology Sydney as well as the Thammasat Design School, student teams developed creative product concepts based on FIDLOCK technology. Their goal was to address real-world challenges across a range of self-selected fields using innovative magnetic-mechanical fastening solutions. The resulting prototypes impressively demonstrate the versatility and potential of FIDLOCK technology.

Modular harness, unlimited flexibility
The challenge:
Many current dog harnesses are too specialised. Guide dogs need comfort and stability, while pet owners seek flexibility and ease of use.
The result? User groups resort to one-sided products – with fragmented use, wasted resources and everyday restrictions.
The solution: quick switching between protection and freedom
The PETMOD harness combines different FIDLOCK fasteners: the V-BUCKLE for attaching the harness and connecting it to the collar, SNAP for modular extensions, and SNAP push for additional guide dog modules. The result: an inclusive system that easily switches between secure hold and flexible mobility.

Design highlights:
Dual mechanism: Modular components can be changed in seconds as needed.
Inclusivity at its core: Fasteners can be easily operated by people with or without disabilities.
Ergonomic & healthy: The harness adapts to the dog's body structure for maximum comfort and protection.
Development process & learnings:
The team examined existing harnesses through observation and interviews to identify weaknesses and understand user needs. Based on this, a concept was developed that combines material safety, comfort, ergonomics and everyday practicality. The result is a modular harness that impresses in both form and function.
